Biography

Born to a loving mother and a father who was an engineer in CTB, Mr. Rodrigo was the youngest member of a family of 11 children. He was a very adorable and active child from an early age and was constantly growing and nurturing in religious places such as the Church and the Temple.

Education

He excelled in education from an early age. His school was Kelaniya Gurukula Maha Vidyalaya, which is very popular in Sri Lanka. There he conducted his studies under the close supervision of teachers. He also excelled in extra-curricular activities and sports. He was the head prefect of school in a time and he was also a great volleyball player in school. He became captain of school volleyball team at a time.

Social Status

He is married and, he is a father of loving two daughters. He is a Businessman and a Justice-of-Peace for All Island.

Leader in Sports

He was a member of Nawatharu Elle Team in Kirimetiyagara.
He held the captaincy of Pubudu Volleyball Club – Kirimetiyagara for 5 years.
He was a member of Kirimetiyagara – St Anthony’s Football Club.
He is the president of “The Friends” Cycling Sports Club – Kiribathgoda, over 15 years.

Social Activities

From an early age, he has been active in social work and spearheads many social services and activities in the area.

He founded the Past Pupils Association of Gurukula Vidyalaya – Gurukula Friends, and held the post of Chairman for nearly 10 years.
He held the post of President of the United Trade Union of Kiribathgoda for five (5) years.
In addition, he founded the Gurukula Friends Society which conducts a variety of social activities annually.
He, colloborating with Gurukula Friends Society, a number ofscholarships have been provided for the education of children of low income families for many years now.
He also does a lot of social work every year for Christmas.

Film & Teledrama Producer

Apart from his sports, social and charity activities, he is also one of a best films and teledrama producers in Sri Lanka. He have produced number of movies and teledramas, including Kalu Sudu Mal.

Political Career

He was very interested in politics from an early age and entered politics at the age of 19.

He began his political career with seniors such as UNP MP Kamalavarna Jayakody, former UNP minister John Amaratunga and former UNP Speaker Joseph Michael Perera.
He was the Secretary to the former parliament minister Mervyn Silva.
He was the Secretary to the former parliament minister Rajitha Senaratne for 3 years.
